Why Sankethi.com?
Dear Sankethi,
As you would know, there are broadly two groups of Sankethis, Bettadapura & Kowshika
and both have their respective Sanghas established in India. The Bettadapura Sankethi
Sangha & Kowshika Sankethi Sangha are very actively pursuing several things regularly
and there is a good interaction among the members of the community. However, most
of the people (90%) who interact with each other are elders & senior citizens and
very few youngsters. Also, unlike the past, plenty of Sankethis today have been
more flexible and have found alliances with non-sankethis as a result of which the
bonding has become fragile. Interestingly, the line between Bettadapura & Kowshika
Sankethis has become thinner than ever before. This is a good sign.
There are several reasons for youngsters to be occupied elsewhere giving them less
or no time to mingle with the other members of the Sankethi community. Sankethi.com
is one of the first few things that is needed to provide a forum for all those thousands
of Sankethis spread world-wide, especially the younger generation to understand
the culture, language, and family relationships.
There are several organizations like NASA, Kowshika Sankethi Sangha, Bettadapura
Sankethi Sangha which are all doing phenomenal work individually. The real benefit
can be seen when we achieve synergy between all these organizations. And the best
medium to achieve this is beyond doubt the Internet. Hence, Sankethi.com.
There are several things that are being done to incorporate in this web site. Going
forward, may be, in about a year’s time, we hope that this site will serve as a
foundation for many of the things that we can’t imagine doing today. We are building
the online database of all the Sankethis. Though this is an initiative from the
Bettadapura Sankethi Sangha, it is definitely not restricted to Bettadapura Sankethis
only. Kowshika Sankethis are highly encouraged to come forward and support this
initiative.
Together, let us increase the awareness of contribution of Sankethis to the society,
country & the world.
